It’s already the third month of 2021. Wow. Time is really moving fast. Time also seems like it is moving in slow motion. We have seen some unprecedented things happen in the world in the last 12 months. Here in the United States of America, we have suffered the world wide pandemic, with deaths and infections exacerbated by a very slow response to the virus. Our democratic republic was shaken to the core by political and social unrest. A massive winter storm spanning over a 1600 mile (2575 kilometer) swath of the country left millions of people without power, heat and running water. In only 60 or so days in the new year, we have experienced a LOT.
Yet, at the beginning of this year’s S. O. A. K. calendar, we studied protection and provision. Even in the midst of calamity, strife, unrest and chaos, I hope that you found yourself being protected and provided for by the Hand of Almighty God Himself. I have a favorite saying, “Life happens to everybody.” It’s based upon the scriptures in Ecclesiastes 9:11 and in Matthew 5:45. In other words bad things happen to good people all the time. We don’t get to pick and choose how suffering comes our way. We only get to decide HOW we will react when it happens. In the course of all that has happened, I choose to see how God has protected me, my family and friends. He has provided me with more than enough in this season, so much so that me and this ministry have been able to bless others in their times of despair and need.
So here we are, at the start of the end of quarter one (for us busy entrepreneurs and business people) and we are stepping into this new month with the assurance that God’s protection and provision are with us. Armed with this knowledge, having confidence in God’s Word thus far, it becomes easier to accept and walk in the fullness of God’s POWER.
Power is defined by Oxford Language Dictionary as 1, control – the ability to control people or things; 2, ability – the ability or opportunity for a person to do something; the particular ability of the mind or body; and 3, authority – the right and ability of a person to do something. Control, ability and authority. These are the things Holy Spirit has given us as believers, sons and daughters of God to keep hold of during good and bad times. The power we have in Christ Jesus is not just a worldly sense of control either. It is a supernatural power that enables us to have the inherent power that resides in God and exerts it and puts it forth with force. We have the power to perform miracles. We have moral power and excellence of soul, mind and feelings. We possess the power and influence which belongs to the rich and wealthy. We have the power of resources that arise from our numbers as children of God. And we have the power of all of Heaven’s forces, including His armies, angels and heavenly hosts.
This month’s S. O. A. K. calendar is designed to reinforce that there is POWER in Christ, Heaven and you. As you study, observe, acknowledge and pray about these scriptures, embody them. Embrace them and by faith, know that what God says about His Word and you is true. We are the chosen ones. The ones the whole world is waiting for. We have power in Christ to turn whole situations around. Because of the power of God that works in us, we don’t have to be thermometers, only taking the temperature of what’s happening in the atmosphere. NO! We are thermostats, turning up the heat on the enemy, drying out the tears of those hurting and setting their hearts aflame because of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. As we SOAK this month, I will be praying for you, for GGMi and for me to embrace fully the power God has given us to make a real difference in this crazy world we are living in. It rains on the just and the unjust alike. But God gave us the power to put up an umbrella… Use it.
