Ever embarrass yourself in front of a bunch of people? I have!
Being a child of God doesn’t mean your “human side” won’t show up. Au contrairé. As a matter of fact, being human AND having the Holy Spirit makes us special and unique. Just like Jesus, we are human and walking in the divine at the same time. Our spirituality doesn’t negate or surpress our humanity, rather we show others that God the Father can use us just as we are, with frailties, goofiness and all.
Showing your weaknesses to others is a blessing. It helps others see that walking with Christ doesn’t take a super-human effort on our part. Rather it takes a natural human enabled by a supernatural God to walk in the Spirit and do the right things. It’s in our frailties that God gets the greatest glory out of our human story.
It also helps to laugh at ourselves and remain humble. I can relax and know it’s not my perfection that makes me a good witness to others. It’s God’s grace which covers my mistakes and silliness. Besides, laughter is good medicine for the soul. If my embarrassment makes someone else laugh, I’m giving them a good dose of feel better.
I’m so glad that God loves all of me, even, especially the goofy parts!
