Capitalistic Christianity Has Got Some Nerve

When Bible study, politics and rebuttals collide… (Alas, I’m getting ready to lose more “friends” this election season.)
If you can’t see anything beyond your skewed and slanted version of Evangelical Christian beliefs to hear sound and verifiable facts, and receive scripture as it’s written, then I’m truly praying for you. You’re so scared of losing your grip on being the majority that you make up fantastical hysteria about what socialism means. (I’m a moderate Democrat so miss me with the she must be defending socialism argument.)
You keep telling me you support #45 because he has been a more Christian president than the last one because he has prayer meetings in the White House. Yet at every turn, this man and his supporters have espoused the characteristics and worst tendencies of the most renegade of Capitalists and white nationalists this country has ever seen.
How can you say socialism is evil and then use the example of Jesus overturning tables in the temple as your defense against socialist policy?
Uhm excuse me Ma’am. Pardon me sir. The very REASON Jesus turned over the tables was because the people and priests had turned over to a CAPITALIST system. They were selling the items people were supposed to raise/work for to offer a sacrifice at the temple. The sellers were making a profit off of what was supposed to be a free sacrifice. Jesus flipped tables and whooped behinds because those who could afford to buy, tried to purchase their way into the Kingdom! Does that sound like socialism to you? Capitalist much?
Twisting the Word of God to advance your argument is nothing new. Paul warned us that would happen. What’s different now is there are some of us who will challenge, refute and reproof your interpretation of the Word and send you back to study yourself approved. What. Are we supposed to just accept your argument that Socialism is evil because it wants to make you pay for someone else’s healthcare? Guess what. YOU ALREADY PAY FOR SOMEONE ELSE’S HEALTHCARE…the CAPITALIST who every 30 minutes makes 140 times your average salary. Plus, the outrageous bill you pay even before you meet your deductible and out of pocket costs for your 20% pays for someone else’s healthcare too.
My belief system aside, I’m willing to hear FACTS about capitalism, socialism and communism. The truths and the lies. I’m willing to hear with an open mind what the benefits and retractions of socialist policy might entail. But ya’ll who have shut yourself off completely from reality just so you can continue to support a xenophobic, misogynistic, racist, and CAPITALIST system which concern is more for the stock market than the lives of citizens?? Wow. You got me!
By the bye, since WHEN did Capitalism become synonymous with Christianity? Oh yeah, prosperity and blessings teaching in the white wing I mean right-wing Evangelical Christian church says you’re only truly blessed if you have stuff and look a certain way. So those without are obviously not blessed or worthy of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Isn’t what you told my ancestors still in play? “If you work hard and please your employer, you will get your reward in heaven?”This teaching which has been perpetuated, that you must pull yourself up by your own bootstraps, is so flawed and patently outrageous. 1st, that only works if everyone is given equal opportunity to possess boots. But the system has been rigged to only GIVE boots to some, make others work to death before they can purchase boots and deny certain segments of others from getting boots altogether. And secondly, have you ever seen someone try to lift their own self by their own bootstraps? All they do is succeed in flipping their own self over in a heap.
Furthermore, this Capitalistic Christianity supports that the wealthy Christian will voluntarily and cheerfully “trickle down” blessings to the less fortunate. Hah! That theory has been blown out of the water so many times that it’s pathetic to even voice that OPINION any more. If you are so giving and charitable why is it called TRICKLE and not SHOWER or BLESSING down theory?
My point in all this: miss me with this Pharisedic , hypocritical outcry against socialism and charitable support of vulnerable citizens. More and more, it sounds like you have a very thinly veiled disgust of democracy, period. If the will of the majority of the citizens of the United States of America is to enact some form of social safety net for its people, then instead of bemoaning the demise of “your America”, embrace true democracy and that the government of the people, by the people, for the people works.
And stop using scriptures to justify your xenophobic behavior and speech.
