April 2021-Dedication

It is April 2021. A time for springing forth. April showers will hopefully bring May flowers. We will celebrate Resurrection Sunday and see the Earth rebound from a cold and dark winter during this month. Many see Spring and the month of April as a time of renewal and rededication to all sorts of things, such as marriages, friendships and even temporary work assignments that were shelved during a dormant winter season. Yet how can you rededicate if you don’t define the original concept or premise of dedication?

Dedication.

It’s our devotion, obligation, commitment to a particular task, purpose, object or person. It is what we have pledged our lives to in order to pursue a particular goal or end. “I’ve committed my life to the pursuit of the perfect french fry.” Dedication is a single-minded enthusiasm and perseverance to see “it” or “that person” come to fruition.

With all of that being said, how do we then see our commitment, our pursuit of dedication to God? OUCH! Better yet, do we acknowledge the devotion, obligation and commitment God has made to us? Double OUCH!

This month’s S. O. A. K. blog and calendar is designed to make us see that the dedication God has towards us is the very same zeal and enthusiasm that we should have towards Him. God the Father has so much love and faithfulness towards us that He sent Jesus to pay for our sins. Jesus had so much tenacity and diligence towards us that He died on a cross to save us. Holy Spirit has so much backbone and staying power towards us because He wants to sustain us. God is dedicated to keeping us until the day of salvation! How much more should we be enthusiastic enough to be dedicated to His Word, His promises and His Spirit?

As you read and write the daily scripture, observe and understand its meaning and implications, strive to apply them to your daily life and kneel and pray about each verse, let God in. Let Him move out your preconceived notions about dedication and breathe in a new and fresh perspective of how you can reignite your passion and zeal for your relationship with Him. SOAK in His presence and renew your dedication to Him and His Word.
