Is the vacation over?

Isn’t it funny how when your vacation is over you might have two simultaneous thoughts? “Is it over already?” and “Why do I feel like I need a vacation after my vacation?”! Vacation (or Holiday) is a period of personal time set aside for travel, household improvements, family reunions and more. It seems you might do more during that period than on your regular job. You don’t want to waste a minute, so you may cram every moment with plans, excursions and chores. Time flies when you’re busy enjoying yourself. When your time off is over, the feeling of freedom slowly ebbs and reality crashes in and takes it’s place.

But just because the holiday has ended doesn’t mean you have to take the “vacation mentality” off when it comes to spending time with God. Take a vacation every day with Him and get away from the cares of this world. It only takes a few moments with Jesus to vacate the stress, worries and hurts that may surround you daily. The more you vacation with Christ, the more He makes “real” life seem less intense and every problem more manageable.

Just like you plan for your yearly holidays, put God on your daily calendar. It won’t cost you a thing to go on a trip with Him. As a matter of fact, the souvenirs are tangible and will last you a lifetime. (Peace, pure joy, unconditional love, and patience are a few I got during our last holiday together!)

Vacations end, but spending time with your Savior is priceless. Don’t overlook the value of spiritual vacationing with God. It will be your daily break from the whirlwinds we call life.
