REALLY? Apple or Lemon? Check the fruit.

Why do “we” get excited when we see a celebrity express their belief in Christianity/Jesus Christ? Is it because we are so star crossed by their fame that we feel their endorsement of “our” faith gives us validation in the eyes of the world? Is it because we admire them for using their platform of celebrity to profess Jesus in addition to their latest film/album/stunt? Or is it because we were TRULY concerned about where they will spend eternity after this life? Is it because “we”, like Father God, desire that no (wo)man go to hell and all come to repentance and reconciliation with Him?Why do “we” say AMEN when a star says “I give honor to god, who is the head of my life” at an awards show but ignore the fact that none of the actual work they perform gives Honor to God? Is it because we think it’s only a movie/song/dance routine/t.v. show? Is it because we empathize with them, you gotta do what you gotta do to succeed in that world. Or is it because we, like them, want one foot in Christ and one foot in the world and they validate the point? Why do “we” jump up and down when (s)he says in their documentary they believe deeply in god? Is it because we think everyone is talking about the same God (The God of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, David, you know, Jesus) we serve? Is it because mentioning god makes us feel better about supporting their “art/craft/show”? Or is it because we don’t recognize that everyone that calls on god is not calling on Jesus of Nazareth, the Christ, the Only Begotten SON of the Living God. Be careful to notice if the self-proclaimed believer is actually producing the fruit of their professed belief. A nice career, mansions, exotic vacations, multiple cars and a visible relationship DOES NOT MEAN they have peace, strength, joy of salvation and LOVE. I don’t care what you say, if you say you are an apple tree but all I see in your branches and among your leaves are lemons, I will question your identity. Be excited for anyone if they are a believer in Jesus Christ! No matter their stature or status in this world, be it movie star or homeless man, rejoice with and for them. Celebrity and fame doesn’t guarantee a place in the Lamb’s Book of Life nor does it exclude it simply because of money and stardom. Faith in Jesus Christ is what gets us in The Book. “We are all a work in progress.” “Man, Andrea, it’s not that serious!” I know we are and actually it is. Time is too short for this world. The line in the sand was drawn long ago. It’s past time to choose Whom you will serve. God wants you hot or cold towards Him. If you are lukewarm, the Word says He is going to vomit you out. (His Word not mine.) It is time to get serious about relationship with God and living in righteousness in the midst of evil and difficult times. I’m not questioning your motives and heart. I am challenging YOU to question YOUR own heart. What are your motivations? Why do you think the way you do? Where did you take on this mindset? How do you take it off and put on the Mind of Christ? These are the things we must do daily, DAILY in order to die to our flesh and things of this world. So before you jump all over me for this post, know this: these questions are what I asked MYSELF before I asked you!
